Y5 Victorian Mill Day

Lesson: History

Class: Year 5 - Apollo Class Year: 2017 - 2018

On 21 March, Year 5 experienced life in a Victorian Mill and school.  The children and staff dressed in Victorian clothing and adopted a Victorian attitude to school and work.  Children experienced what life was like under a strict teacher of the era; they made rag-rugs, ate gruel, wrote with chalk on a slate, took part in Victorian childrens' games and learnt about the countries of the British Empire at the time.  They also experienced the "dunces cap" and "the cane" (don't worry, no children were actually harmed during this expierence!)

Thank you to Mrs Esposito, Mrs Edmunds and Mr Thomas for helping to make the Y5 Victorian Mill Day a memorable one!
